I was one of the persons who financial supported this research project because my mother was born in Bar, Ukraine. I was very pleased to find the final product to be much better than I ever expected. It contained nothing about my family other than the names of those who immigrated. But it presented a compelling and thorough history of the town and its Jewish inhabitants. This book is invaluable for genealogical researchers. And it also brings to life a Jewish society that was basically destroyed by pogroms, the Holodomor (starvation by Stalin), and the Holocaust. I did not give it 5 stars because it is a great read. I gave it 5 stars because it is unique, rare, and invaluable; and it succeeded at what it set out to accomplish.
