Although I have been a Max Raabe fan for over 15 years, this compilation album marks his debut in my collection. I do not know which albums these songs were taken from, but it is a generous selection of nearly 3 hours of music. Raabe covers songs from the classic swing era, particularly the songs of the legendary Comedian Harmonists. Due to the worldwide popularity of Max Raabe and the Palast Orchester, there are a confusing number of compilation albums available. I chose this one, because it features Raabe's great hit, Kein Schwein Ruft Mich An, a few jazz standards in English, such as Night and Day and Stormy Weather, the song, Das Lied Ist Aus, made famous by Marlene Dietrich, and the tongue-in-cheek hilarity of Max Raabe's interpretations of the hits of the 1920s. Max Raabe's big band swings in big style!
